What about veterans & their families?

In our nomination for the Joining Forces Community Challenge, can we include service to veterans and their families, or is the focus strictly on active duty military members and their families?

Kimberly, while the primary focus is on the active service member and his or her family, the Challenge sponsors recognize efforts to support our veterans and their families as equally important.  So, yes, your nomination may include service to veterans and their families.
Thank you for taking time recognize these extraordinary efforts.

With the help of veterans and disabled veterans we can help turn this nation from the destructive cource we are heading toward. We ,our families and communties need to start action and change the politcal landscape that is destroying America from within because of the politcal bickering that is hindering our nation from growing and putting us in harms way. Those that say they love their neighbor as themselves, show it don't hide that love and generousity under a bushel. Stand up and be counted with love and dignity for America not with hate and self interest that if destructful. Do we only do good to those that do good to us, no say's God do good to those that do evil to you also for to good to those we love only is self interest. Wake up America and help this administration in this fight and quit fighting against our president who is a strong voice for America. You elected him, show it by suppporting our commander in chief.

Ben, I just submitted an entry for a veteran support group but only after being contacted by the JFC. I, too, found the website emphasis on "military families" and "deployments" as meaning veterans were NOT a focus of JFC.

Your comment, "while the primary focus is on the active service member and his or her family, the Challenge sponsors recognize efforts to support our veterans and their families as equally important. So, yes, your nomination may include service to veterans and their families" is welcomed. But the program marketing has certainly not been welcoming to veteran support organizations.
