New Directions - Serving Those Who Served

New Directions, Inc. was co-founded by formerly homeless Vietnam veteran John Keaveney, Toni Reinis, a public policy advocate for hungry and homeless people, and John's fellow Vietnam veteran Larry Williams, who had met John through a V.A. program - also called New Directions -- that the V.A. had dropped for budgetary reasons.  Vowing that there should always be a place where homeless and addicted veterans could turn for help, John and Larry vowed to recreate the program that had saved their lives.  The story of New Directions is a testament to what people with a vision can achieve, assuming they are willing to work hard and that they have the stamina to carry on despite adversity.  Today New Directions is changing to better meet the needs of a newer generation of veterans.  The agency is also developing permanent supportive housing.  Its key partners in all its ventures are the V.A., and a growing and supportive surrounding community.
